Are you ready for some “Mei shi gan lan qiu”? The NFL is intent on finding out if that is indeed the case in China. The league is venturing into untested territory and hoping the country’s vast marketplace will respond to its product. Clearly, there are details to sort out. For one, the language. The sport’s vocabulary may resonate from Maine to Maui, but it’s a poor fit in Chinese.

PRO FOOTBALL; Mr. Irrelevant Gets a Contract
Ramzee Robinson, who earned the title Mr. Irrelevant as the final player selected in the 2007 N.F.L. draft, agreed on a three-year contract with the Detroit Lions, his agent said. Robinson, a cornerback, was the last of 255 players selected in April. Financial terms were not disclosed….

Dolphins release DT Evans after arrest (AP)
Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Fred Evans, arrested over the weekend for refusing to leave a taxi on South Beach and for fighting with officers, was released by the team Thursday. Evans played in one game as a rookie last season with the Dolphins. Police twice used a Taser gun Saturday on Evans in an attempt to subdue the 6-foot-4, 305-pound player, according to the arrest report.

Dolphins GM Mueller signs extension (AP)
Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller signed a two-year contract extension Wednesday that will take him through the summer of 2010. Mueller’s initial contract was three years for $2.1 million and ran through June 2008.
