NFL could change OT format for playoffs (AP)
An NFL spokesman said Saturday the league could change its overtime format for playoff games at a meeting next month. Under the new format, both teams would get the ball at least once unless the first team to get the ball scores a touchdown, Greg Aiello said. If the first team to get the ball makes a field goal and the other team ties the game, action would continue until a team scores again.

Shanahan: Redskins to tender QB Campbell (AP)
Mike Shanahan said that the Washington Redskins plan to tender Jason Campbell, their starting quarterback the past 3 1/2 seasons, before free agency begins on March 5. But Shanahan wouldn’t commit to Campbell as his starter. Shanahan said he’s still evaluating Campbell, whom Redskins owner Dan Snyder tried to replace in failed attempts to acquire Jay Cutler and Mark Sanchez last offseason.

Rams undecided what to do with top pick (AP)
St. Louis Rams general manager Billy Devaney has not decided what to do with the first pick in April’s NFL draft. Devaney contradicted reports Friday that the Rams have settled on taking quarterback Sam Bradford with the No. 1 pick, were talking to the Eagles about trading for Michael Vick or that they had been entertaining offers to trade out of the top spot.

NFL combine puts emphasis on concussions (AP)
For the next class of players drafted, the NFL plans to begin preventing concussions right from the start. For the first time, all 329 invited players at this week’s NFL scouting combine will be given a baseline brain activity exam and will likely face more grilling than previous classes about their concussion histories.
