Elam retires after signing with Broncos (AP)
Jason Elam returned to the team that drafted him into the NFL on Wednesday to say goodbye for good. Elam signed a one-day contract with the Denver Broncos before announcing he was ending his 17-year NFL career. The Pro Bowl kicker spent his first 15 years with the Broncos and the last two with the Atlanta Falcons, who waived him nearly four months ago.

Giants, Jets to meet in preseason opener (AP)
The first football game in the new Meadowlands Stadium will be between the owners of the $1.6 billion facility. Eagles re-sign LB Gaither for 1 year (AP)
Restricted free agent linebacker Omar Gaither has signed a one-year contract to return to the Philadelphia Eagles. Team officials announced that Gaither signed his tender offer on Wednesday. The 26-year-old Gaither started the first three games of last season at middle linebacker, but was benched in favor of Jeremiah Trotter in Week 5.

Bills ink WR Jackson, re-sign CB Youboty (AP)
The Buffalo Bills have signed free agent receiver Chad Jackson and re-signed cornerback Ashton Youboty. Jackson missed last season after being waived by Denver in September. He’s played parts of three NFL seasons, and broke into the league in 2006 after being drafted in the second round by New England.

Bengals And Cowboys to Begin NFL Pre - Season

Texans LB Ryans agrees to 6-year deal (AP)
Star middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans is staying in Houston. A team official told The Associated Press on Tuesday night that Ryans has agreed to a six-year contract with the Texans. Vikings sign DE Montgomery for 1 year (AP)
The Minnesota Vikings have signed defensive end Mike Montgomery to a one-year deal. Montgomery spent the past five seasons with NFC North rival Green Bay. The Packers drafted him out of Texas A&M in the sixth round in 2005. Montgomery’s best season came in 2008 when he started eight games with 71 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks.

Titans agree to terms with CB Hill (AP)
The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with cornerback Tye Hill, a former first-round draft choice. Hill has started 24 games with five interceptions during a four-year career. Last year he started three games for the Atlanta Falcons. Hill played three seasons in St. Louis before being traded to Atlanta before the start of the 2009 season.

Chargers sign CB Vasher to 2-year deal (AP)
The San Diego Chargers have signed cornerback Nathan Vasher to a two-year contract. Vasher played the past six seasons with the Chicago Bears. He played for three seasons under Ron Rivera, now the Chargers’ defensive coordinator. He played in 15 games last season, with 15 tackles and one interception.
